Alfa Travel has welcomed the first David Urquhart Travel-branded vehicle to its expanded fleet as part of a batch of 10 new Mercedes-Benz Tourismo coaches that see 100% Euro VI compliance achieved by the operator.
The David Urquhart-branded coach will serve customers travelling from Scotland after Alfa’s success in relaunching that brand in 2021 following purchase the previous year. The operator’s fleet is entirely Tourismo via a partnership with EvoBus (UK) that has been in place since 2011.
While Alfa Travel conducted an extensive review in 2021 that involved looking at “some excellent coaches,” it ultimately decided to stay with the Tourismo. Operations Director Paul Bull says: “It was a very competitive field with excellent standards of quality, but it is a big decision to change when the entire fleet is one brand and relationships are established with dealer networks.”
Managing Director Emma Russell (pictured) has welcomed the new coaches to Alfa’s fleet.
She adds: “This is a major investment, and it demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with high quality holidays, the highest standards of safety and comfort and the most environmentally friendly way to travel.”
The 10 new Tourismos have Webfleet telemetry, Lytx camera systems and high-specification viral filters to assure safety. Additionally, they have free wi-fi and USB charging points and enhanced seats. Alfa Travel was accredited as a member of DVSA Earned Recognition in late 2021.
