Two Arriva buses have been named after a pair of Olympic medal winners.

Jessica and Jennifer Gadirova (pictured) will have their names and bronze medals liveried on all four sides of two specially designed Arriva double-deck buses.

The twins, who represented Aylesbury at the Tokyo Olympics, visited the Arriva depot this week after bringing back Bronze in the women’s artistic gymnastics final.

“We were so extremely proud to have two local Olympic heroes that we decided Arriva needed to show its appreciation,” says Shaun Bloxam, Arriva General Manager for Buckinghamshire.

Adds Jessica: “The support we’ve had from the people of Aylesbury has been amazing and to now see my name up on the side of a local bus is incredible.

“We’re very grateful to Arriva for arranging this and we will definitely be looking out for our names on buses around town.”

Jennifer says both women feel honoured to have been recognised by Arriva. “I never thought I’d have a bus named after me. The encouragement and messages we’ve had all year have been incredible and we’re so grateful to everyone.”

The two buses will be seen on routes across the region from this week.
