Blackpool Transport will use the CitySwift performance optimisation platform until at least 2031 following a renewal and expansion of the partnership.
Following the reported positive impact of the platform on the punctuality of the operator’s bus service, the focus will now shift to operational improvements.
It will also be extended to its tram network as part of the new contract.
CitySwift says its input has helped Blackpool Transport achieve its punctuality target of 90% across the bus network.
The supplier’s software offers insights, recommendations, and predictions designed to boost reliability of public transport services.
Alan Farrelly, CCO and co-founder of CitySwift, says: “This partnership renewal reflects the measurable impact CitySwift has delivered for Blackpool Transport in achieving and sustaining a significant increase in punctuality.
“We’re now building on that success by shifting focus to operational efficiency, supporting Blackpool Transport in optimising resources and driving even greater value across its network.”
James Clough, Commercial and Finance Director at Blackpool Transport, adds: “CitySwift has played a key role in helping us achieve significant improvements in bus service performance, particularly around punctuality.
“By shifting our goal to operational efficiency, CitySwift provides the insights needed to ensure we’re allocating resources appropriately, enabling us to maximise our bus and tram services for both the business and passengers.”
CitySwift, which was founded in 2016, has recently announced an extension of its contract with Transport for Greater Manchester, and new relationships with Warrington’s Own Buses and Cardiff Bus.
