TfGM continues to use CitySwift to power network enhancements

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has renewed its partnership with CitySwift in a bid to continue optimising network performance.

The authority started using the supplier 12 months ago to enhance reliability, frequency and speed on the Bee Network.

CitySwift says its AI-based platform allows operators to use performance data to proactively manage key routes on the network to meet passenger needs.

TfGM reports a 14% increase in patronage in the first two franchising areas since its bus reregulation process started in September 2023.

Detailed changes have been made possible in Bury, Rochdale and Oldham via the CitySwift platform, says the supplier, which notes a 10% improvement in punctuality for these areas over this period.

Alan Farrelly, CCO and Co-founder of CitySwift, says: “Supporting TfGM’s goal of growing patronage with frequent and more reliable buses aligns to CitySwift’s mission.

“Our team is focused on continuing to deliver on the improvements achieved in the first year of our partnership with TfGM to support the goals of the Greater Manchester Bus Strategy.”

Danny Vaughan, Chief Network Officer at TfGM, adds: “By working with CitySwift, we are able to see exactly how services are performing, enabling us to make quick decisions in how we plan and prioritise improvements to deliver better services for customers, which in turn is allowing us to grow public transport usage and plan a future network aligned to the ambition and growth of our city region.”
