As part of Brighton and Hove Buses’ plan to explore fuel options for the city in the short, medium and long term, it is trialling Wrightbus’ pure-electric Streetair. To be used for two months on route 50 (Churchill Square-Hollingdean), that runs through the heart of the city, it will be charged overnight only.
Says Martin Harris, MD of the Go-Ahead owned firm: “We will see how the vehicle copes with the city’s topography and high passenger volumes.
“We foresee that electric will form part of a multi-pronged strategy for a sustainable transport system.”
