Carousel Buses is to hold a further recruitment day as it plans to expand its services in areas around the Arriva depots in High Wycombe and Aylesbury that are targeted for closure.
Following Arriva’s proposal in May to shut the depots, Carousel Buses and fellow Go-Ahead subsidiary Oxford Bus Company announced they would provide services on most threatened routes.
Carousel Buses announced an increased driver welcome bonus of £4,000 and organised a recruitment day on 2 June.
A further such event – at Holiday Inn, High Wycombe – is scheduled for 7 July for Arriva workers who stand to be affected by the closures and others looking to move into the industry.
Arriva says that, if the closures are confirmed to go ahead, this action will not be implemented before 27 July.
In such an event, 14 services would be cut, while the X5 (Aylesbury to Hemel Hempstead) will remain in operation by the operator’s Hemel Hempstead depot.
Luke Marion, Carousel Buses Managing Director, says: “We had a fantastic response to the recruitment day last month and so are holding another one to enable more people to come in meet some of the team and discuss the opportunities available.
“A lot of colleagues at Arriva have been impacted by the sad news and we’d like to provide further reassurance that there are roles available.
“We’re specifically seeking drivers, engineers, and service controllers to join our team.
“Carousel Buses is a fantastic place to work, and we’re committed to taking on many of the services that were at risk.”
