Carousel Buses has announced what it says are enhancements to services following the operator’s take-over of Arriva’s Wycombe network at the end of July.
The Go-Ahead subsidiary launched 14 routes in the area the day after Arriva’s withdrawal and will enact its first tranche of changes on 1 September.
The move will see more services from Wycombe to Marlow, Henley, Reading and Bourne End, while buses will now also serve Maidenhead and the Chalfonts on Sundays.
Carousel says frequency on its 36 and 37 routes between High Wycombe and Bourne End will double in the week, restoring a 15-minute service.
It will also trial a 37B service to Maidenhead on Sundays.
The 104 will have a Sunday service between Beaconsfield, the Chalfonts and Uxbridge, while that connection will also enhancements on weekday mornings.
Among other Sunday changes are increases in frequency on the 103/X103 between High Wycombe, Beaconsfield and Slough, and on the Flightline 102 connecting Wycombe with Heathrow Airport. The latter will now operate the same timetable every day of the week.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Carousel Buses, says: “We’re pleased to begin the rollout of our first round of enhancements only five weeks after taking over from Arriva’s former services.
“Ensuring that passengers affected by Arriva’s depot closures experienced minimal disruption to their journeys has been a key priority for our team.
“We’ve committed to significant investments to create the infrastructure required to expand our existing network and keep routes serving Wycombe and wider Buckinghamshire operating.
“We’ve had a great response from the travelling public, with steadily building patronage on our new services, and I’d like to thank customers for their understanding of the situation while our team continues to build and develop our expanded Wycombe operation to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction.”
Oxford Bus Company and Redline also stepped in to take over services when Arriva closed its depots in High Wycombe and Aylesbury on 27 July.
