Children from St Blasius CofE Primary Academy in the Isle of Wight, had the chance to preview the Shanklin Breezer, when they accompanied the Mayor to launch the bus service for the summer season.
Pupils from the school travelled on the bus route across the town, learning important historical facts and information along the way.
“We wanted to do something special to launch the Shanklin Breezer, so we invited local councillors and Mayor of the town Cllr Jon Gilbey to join our young guests as they enjoyed their day out in the sunshine,” says Richard Tyldsley, General Manager of Go Ahead-owned Southern Vectis.
“It was the perfect opportunity to celebrate all that is good about Shanklin. We all enjoyed what turned out to be a wonderful occasion – and we were blessed by wonderful weather on the day.”
The Shanklin Breezer, which began its summer season at the weekend, is a popular service among local people and visitors wishing to explore the delights of the picturesque coastal town. Many buses running the route are open-top – so passengers can enjoy fantastic views, whilst feeling the wind in their hair.
