C&G Coach Services of Chatteris has taken delivery of mobile brake tester equipment from Totalkare. The operator says that by bringing brake testing in house, it will benefit from immediate time savings and, in the longer term, a considerable reduction in costs.
Totalkare has provided a DVSA-approved unit to the Cambridgeshire operator. It has what the supplier describes as a “simple, yet strong and flexible design” that can test an axle loaded to as much 16,000kg. The unit has adjustable feet, enabling it to be deployed on uneven ground while still delivering reliable results.
Accompanying the brake tester is a tablet that communicates with it wirelessly. That enables testing to be conducted from the driver’s seat of the vehicle in question. Also supplied with the brake tester are a computer, a printer, a monitor and a cabinet.
Says C&G Coach Services Transport Manager Jody Day: “We were impressed by Totalkare’s strong reputation and rapid response to our brake tester enquiry. The product is a great fit as it provides the highest level of road safety for our fleet.”
Adds Totalkare Area Sales Manager Jack Longstaff: “The mobile brake tester will offer C&G Coach Services several benefits. Conducting brake tests in its workshop means neither the vehicle nor its driver are wasting time travelling to and from the test centre or incurring fees. Over time, that will amount to significant time and cost savings.”
