National Express West Midlands (NEWM) has taken it three millionth contactless payment – less than a year after the system was introduced.
Contactless ticket machines were rolled out on all of NEWM’s 1,600 buses from February 2018 and now a quarter of all bus fares in the region are paid for with contactless cards, says the operator.
Nick Vane, Commercial Director at NEWM, says: “Young people especially have really embraced contactless on our buses – 50% of fares on the university bus routes in Coventry are paid for using contactless.”
