David Cutts, Operations Director, Go-Ahead London

David Cutts (pictured, left) is to become Managing Director of Go-Ahead London in the new year, The Go-Ahead Group has announced.

He will replace incumbent for the last 16 years John Trayner, who is to retire from day-to-day leadership, on 1 January 2023, where he will oversee 7,750 colleagues, a fleet of 2,300 buses and 17 depots.

Operations Director of Go-Ahead London since 2006, David’s career began when he joined London Buses as a management trainee before the privatisation of London bus services. He became Operations Manager of London Central’s Peckham Depot on its purchase by Go-Ahead in 1994, and has since held senior positions in London, Manchester and Singapore.

“David Cutts is an exceptional leader with huge experience of running successful bus networks,” says Group Chief Executive Christian Schreyer. “He takes on leadership of Go-Ahead London at an exciting time as the business pioneers zero-emission technology and works closely with Transport for London to encourage more Londoners onto public transport.

John Trayner, Managing Director, Go-Ahead London

“John Trayner has made a huge contribution to keeping Londoners moving over the last two decades. Under his tenure, Go-Ahead London has doubled in size and introduced electric buses and depots. He has been a champion of Londoners from diverse backgrounds through the company’s award-winning bus driver recruitment, training and apprenticeship programs.”

John Trayner, meanwhile, will remain on Go-Ahead’s executive committee where he will take responsibility for strategic oversight of the Group’s businesses in London, Ireland, Singapore and Sweden.
