Newbury and District has taken delivery of a new 59-seat Plaxton from Dawsongroup Bus and Coach.
The vehicle represents the second addition to Newbury and District’s private hire fleet in as many months and will support the operator’s school contract and private hire work, with a new contract with West Berkshire Council. It is also the first investment in a new vehicle since the company was acquired by Reading Buses in 2018.
“The new coach comfortably seats up to 59 passengers, is fully wheelchair accessible and meets the latest Euro VI emissions standards which means it has lower emissions than the average family car,” says Chief Executive Officer at Newbury and District Robert Williams. “This will also be our seventh fully accessible coach as we continue to upgrade the Newbury and District fleet with an eighth 72-seater to be converted before winter to complete the set.
“I am delighted to have worked with Dawsongroup which has been really helpful sourcing this dream vehicle for us so quickly to meet the requirements of a new contract with West Berkshire Council.”
Dave Fulford, Operations Manager at Newbury and District, reveals the investment comes as the operator begins running days out to destinations for the Christmas period. “The delivery of this new vehicle means that customers booking onto Newbury and District’s Christmas days out can travel in one of the best coaches around.
“We have days out going to Christmas markets and shopping in Oxford, Birmingham and Bristol among others around the south east.”
