Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first details of the new Sprinter, which will be launched in goods-carrying form during the first half of 2018.
It will also supersede the existing model as a base vehicle for coachbuilt and converted minicoaches and minibuses.
Precise information is still awaited, but the computer-generated design sketch presented at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in September shows a vehicle that is similar to the existing model, but that adopts a look more in-keeping with the remainder of Mercedes-Benz’s range.
“Outstanding new features include the comprehensive introduction of driver assistance systems and connectivity services in combination with new telematics, which will bring a leap forward in efficiency for vehicle and fleet management,” says Mercedes-Benz.
Additionally, the manufacturer has revealed that there will be more variants of the new Sprinter, although it has not said whether the highest GVW will be above the current 5,500kg. No information has yet been presented concerning drivelines.
“It goes without saying that the new edition of our iconic Sprinter possesses the classic attributes of reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness,” adds Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Volker Mornhinweg.
