Mellor has continued its quest to become a player on the European stage by signing a distribution agreement with E-Bus of the Netherlands, which also includes Belgium and Luxembourg.
E-Bus will provide sales and support in the Benelux countries. The agreement follows similar deals covering Austria, German and Scandinavia. Mellor says that zero-emission Orion E and the Strata LF low-entry minibuses will be covered by the sales rights, and it has plans to market the Tucana II.
Says MD John Randerson: “Our latest deal means that we now have representation in eight European countries.
“We are well positioned to penetrate the European small bus market, a strategy that we will be launching at the Busworld Europe show in Kortrijk, Belgium.”
E-Bus is owned by Rewin, whose MD Edwin Hobbel adds: “It is good to be working with Mellor. It is extremely forward-thinking in its approach to product development and we believe that our companies enjoy an excellent synergy that will enable us to develop a successful and mutually-beneficial working relationship.
“There is a gap in the Benelux market for small buses with both diesel and electric drivetrains. We see the Orion E as the perfect fit for operators looking for smaller vehicles with zero emissions.”
Earlier this year Mellor confirmed that it was also looking at export markets outside Europe.
