Go-Ahead Group has announced its corporate sponsorship of Women in Bus and Coach (WiBC).

As part of the move, the operator will participate in WiBC’s events, mentorship programs, and advocacy efforts, furthering its commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace.

WiBC was launched in November 2023, just ahead of the routeone awards at the same  Birmingham venue, with the aim of celebrating women in the industry and combating under-representation.

“At Go-Ahead, we believe in the power of diversity to drive innovation, creativity, and success,” says Carolyn Ferguson, Chief People Officer of Go-Ahead Group. “By partnering with WiBC, we are reaffirming our commitment to creating a workplace where all individuals have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.”

The news follows the announcement in March that Go-Ahead was aiming to recruit 1,5000 women bus drivers and achieve 50% gender equality among those it employed in the role by 2035.

“We are thrilled to welcome Go-Ahead Group as a corporate sponsor of WiBC,” adds Kerri Cheek, Director for WiBC. “Their commitment to diversity and inclusion reflects a shared vision of creating a more equitable future for women in business. Together, we will work towards breaking down barriers and empowering women to reach their full potential.”
