Hydroflex has launched its DCARB system, which is a machine that takes 30 minutes to clean carbon from within an engine.
It can be used on all sizes of internal combustion engines. Those that are free from carbon build-up deliver greater power, torque and fuel efficiency, and they are less likely to break down because they are not forced to work as hard, says Hydroflex.
The machine initiates electrolysis of a potassium hydroxide and water electrolyte mix that creates hydrogen and oxygen vapour.
The vapour is then piped through the running engine via a hose attached to the air filter, effectively oxidising and ‘incinerating’ the carbon and pushing it out of the exhaust.
Tests have show that an average fuel consumption improvement of 4% is delivered. The cost of a clean, including electricity and water, is under 50p.
