In an initiative to enhance the safety of student transportation, Kura is launching a free transport safeguarding software for all schools. The permanent offering aims to maximise student safety, address parental concerns, and support schools and drivers in their responsibility towards pupils.
The Essential software plan will empower schools, operators, and drivers with the ability to track which students are on board and on which route, manage vehicle capacity, and monitor school vehicles. It will also enable students to confirm their boarding and disembarking points by tapping on and off the vehicle.
According to Kura’s findings, 22% of schools do not have a transport safeguarding policy in place. To address this, Kura has developed a comprehensive set of transport safeguarding guidelines aimed at enhancing the safety of students during the school run. These guidelines address various facets of student safety, including in-journey safety considerations, assessing route safety, optimising collaboration with operators, and establishing a Serious Incident Management Plan.
Godfrey Ryan, CEO of Kura, underlines the necessity of the initiative: “It’s clear that more needs to be done to ensure that the school journey is a key part of a school’s overall safeguarding strategy.
“To prevent budgets being a barrier, we have decided to make our industry-leading safeguarding software free to all schools. We’re passionate about drawing attention to this safeguarding blind spot and ensuring that the solutions are accessible.”
