In an attempt to simplify the network – and reverse the sharp decline in bus use – at the behest of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Transport for London (TfL) has started a revenue-generation trail, of colour-coded routes in Barkingside, East London.
A further trial is planned for Hayes, West London and if successful, could spread to other parts of the capital.
Buses and signs will be in identifiable colours, with the main destinations, frequency and interchanges on the side of the buses.
Sixty 60 on seven routes are included in the trial, including journeys to/from Romford, Walthamstow, Ilford, Loughton and Barking.
