National Express and Megabus partner with Uber Travel

National Express and Megabus work with Uber

Reservations for scheduled coach services may now be made via Uber Travel after Megabus and National Express became partners with the platform. The development means that Uber app users will be able “to centralise all their domestic travel bookings,” the three businesses say, with rail journeys additionally now bookable via Uber.

When making National Express reservations via Uber Travel, what the coach operator terms as “online exclusive fares” will be available where the date of travel is certain, including on its services to and from airports. Flexible tickets that allow changes are also offered.

To mark its partnership with Uber, National Express has wrapped one of its own Caetano Levante coaches in a black livery. 26 more are scheduled to receive Uber wraps “of varying sizes” over the next month, a spokesperson has advised.

National Express UK Coach Managing Director Chris Hardy says that introduction of the operator’s scheduled services to the Uber booking system is a means of further increasing customer convenience in making reservations.

“Being part of the Uber Travel expansion means that Uber users can easily access safe and reliable coach travel that is great for the pocket and the environment. We are excited to see customers take advantage of the new offering.”

Uber UK General Manager Andrew Brem adds: “Uber users have been able to book rides, bikes, boat services and scooters on the Uber app for a number of years now. We are thrilled to expand Uber Travel, adding the UK’s best travel services across rail and road, creating the ultimate door-to-door experience.”

All scheduled coach and rail bookings made via Uber Travel will generate 10% of the cost back for the customer as Uber Credits for use against future trips, bookings or even Uber Eats deliveries.
