New vehicle sales fall 14%

Registrations of new coaches and buses were down by 14.2% in the third quarter of 2017, says the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Year-to-date (YTD) figures show overall registrations of coaches, buses and minibuses in the first nine months of 2017 were down by 11.7% at 5,978 registrations.

Registrations declined for the third time this year, with 1,996 vehicles registered between July and September.

Double-deckers were down 24.4% at 325 vehicles (1,153 YTD -12%), while single-decker coaches and buses were down by 13% at 496 (1,864 YTD -5%) registrations. Minibuses were down by 11% at 1,175 (2,961 YTD -15%).
