National Express West Midlands has announced it will acknowledge digital student IDs via a partnership with Yoti.
Students can use the verified form of identification to gain discounted travel when using National Express buses in the West Midlands and Coventry.
Passengers will need to download the free Yoti, Post Office EasyID or Lloyds Bank Smart ID app to their phones and create an account by adding an academic student email address and taking a photo.
Adam Rideout, Head of Customer Experience at National Express West Midlands, says: “As a leading public transport operator, we are continually seeking solutions to enhance our service quality and passenger experience.
“The new Student ID feature from Yoti will make it even easier for customers to provide proof of student status when travelling on our services and benefit from cheaper travel.”
Yoti Chief Executive Officer Robin Tombs adds: “We’re pleased to introduce our latest product feature, helping millions of students around the UK to prove their student status quickly, easily and securely from their phone.
“Young people can now prove their age, identity and student status, all from one secure digital ID.
“We’re delighted National Express West Midlands is the first to accept Student IDs, helping students prove their status and access discounted travel tickets more easily.”
