Coach and bus operators are among those parties invited by the Institute of Transport Administration (IoTA) to the opening of its new training centre in Sandy, Bedfordshire, on Saturday 27 July.
The event will take place from 1030hrs for an 1100hrs start at the premises of Cozy Travel, at which the training centre is located. Also marked on the day will be the 40th anniversary of the operator and the 80th anniversary of IoTA.
Senior Traffic Commissioner Richard Turfitt will perform the opening ceremony before giving a presentation alongside JMW Solicitors Head of Commercial Road Transport Laura Hadzik.
Other presentations at the informal gathering will include updates from DVSA Head of Regulatory Services and Transformation Caroline Hicks and from Earned Recognition National Account Manager Phil Breen.
DVSA will also display a stop vehicle and give attendees the opportunity to see new technology as it demonstrates its Hades-5 under-vehicle inspection robot.
IoTA was founded in 1944 and retains its original objective by dedicating itself to career development in the field of transport management and the promotion of education to serve the continuing requirement for transport professionals.
Its membership represents all modes, with the Institute saying that it is “able to continually offer management solutions in response to the day-to-day needs of the transport industry.”
Other exhibits will include a vintage coach from Dews Coaches of Somersham and the UK’s first diesel-electric hybrid coach in the form of an Irizar i4H integral (pictured) that is part of the Cozy Travel fleet. A battery-electric lorry and an AEC Routemaster double-decker bus have also been invited.
The event will close at 1600hrs. It is to be held at 6 Gateshead Close, Sandy, SG19 1RS. While all operators are welcome, guests have been asked to pre-register by contacting IoTA via email or by calling 0207 167 3271.
