The owner of digital transportation platform Optibus has announced it has acquired Spain-based technology company Datik as part of a move into real-time data.
The move will lead to Optibus launching B2B and business-to-government software as a service products in the fields of passenger information, control and monitoring, safety, and operations.
Datik, which is based in San Sebastian, has worked with more than 100 transportation companies, primarily in Europe and Mexico.
Its predictive, real-time technology is designed to prevent vehicle accidents, enhance service frequency, accessibility, and on-time performance, and reduces passenger wait times and service disruptions.
Optibus hopes that integrating Datik’s data into its platform will enable its artificial intelligence system to predict operational and service outcomes for operators and local authorities.
Amos Haggiag, Optibus Chief Executive and Co-founder, says: “Optibus is committed to supporting the public transportation market with the most sophisticated tools and expertise available.
“With this acquisition, operators and agencies will have better access to advanced reactionary capabilities, enabling them to plan better services for passengers and improve the driver work experience.”
Inigo Odriozola, General Manager of Datik, adds: “We are thrilled to join forces with Optibus in a move that is strategic for our growth and that will produce exciting product synergies around data, optimization, and cloud computing. Our combined expertise will break new ground on real-time insights, reinvent ‘operatorial agility’, and enhance the driver and passenger experience. Together with Optibus, we look forward to pushing the envelope on transportation technology while maintaining our commitment to the local economy and staying true to the values that have defined Datik,”
