Passenger has announced that its myTrip app and website platform has exceeded 50,000 users since it launched a little over a year ago.
Having debuted on 1 October 2020, the myTrip app allows the cashless purchase of tickets and provides live vehicle tracking. It can also share real-time occupancy levels as submitted by people already aboard. The myTrip website gives access to web-to-mobile ticketing and live journey planning through an additional digital platform.
Additionally, myTrip has been shortlisted for both the Digital Leaders 100 awards in the Geospatial Innovation of the Year category, and for the UK App Awards. Safeguard Coaches became the 50th operator to adopt the product earlier in 2021.
Passenger CEO Tom Quay says that myTrip was designed specifically to suit smaller operators. He adds that Passenger expects to introduce the product “to even more communities over the next 12 months while helping to change ingrained public mindsets when it comes to travel choices.”
One business that has used myTrip to grow its ticket range in response to changing travel habits is Go Whippet. Via the app it has delivered a package of five day tickets, which can be used over 90 days, says General Manager Roger Birch.
“We are delighted to have welcomed more travellers on board thanks to our new capabilities,” adds Mr Birch. “myTrip has helped us to connect to more of our community and it is important that we continue to raise awareness of the positive impact of taking the bus – from both an environmental perspective as our carbon footprint is reduced and a convenience perspective, as traffic congestion decreases.”
