Pelican Bus and Coach is to stage two roadshows in Scotland this month showcasing its Yutong TCe12, the only zero-emissions coach available in the UK.
The Yutong importer will have the TCe12 available for demonstration at Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton on 20 June (from 10am) and at the Dakota Hotel, Queensferry on 27 June (from 9am).
Pelican is targeting its efforts north of the border after applications for the second round of Scottish Zero-Emission Bus (ScotZEB2) opened last month, with coaches eligible regardless of work scope for the first time.
Unlike with the original phase of funding, ScotZEB2 will be open to fund zero-emission coaches and buses used for public service routes, home-to-school transport, community transport, health and social care transport, private hire and tourism.
Bidders will compete for a share of £58 million in Scottish Government funding, with up to £135,000 per vehicle available. Applications close on 15 September.
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong Sales at Pelican, says: “For the first time, government zero emission funding has been made available to the wider segments of the bus and coach industry.
“These segments such as coaches and community-based transport play a vital role in transporting people to their destinations. The Scottish Government should be applauded in recognising and supporting these segments in transitioning to zero emission vehicles.”
Simon Collins, Coach Sales Manager, adds: “We are proud to be able to demonstrate the only zero-emission coach available in the UK. It is already seeing extensive zero-emission operation in Scotland, and we look forward to introducing it to other Scottish operators.”
