Prentice Coaches works with Sentinel Systems

Multi award-winning coach and bus hire company, Prentice Coaches, has recently worked with Sentinel Systems and installed safety cameras and recording devices to two of their vehicles.

Based in Haddington, East Lothian, Prentice Coaches, which has been established since 1991, were a new customer for Sentinel Systems. It installed eight cameras to offer an all-round view on two vehicles in the fleet and were very pleased with the results.

Ross Prentice, Marketing Director at Prentice Coaches, says: “We decided to use Sentinel Systems after they were recommended to us by another bus company. We had cameras fitted on a smaller vehicle at first and were so impressed with the quality that we had them fitted onto one of our full sized buses. There were eight cameras installed, four that provide an outside view and four of the sides.”

He continued: “We are especially pleased with one of the additional features that allows the driver, when indicating left, to see the footage from the outside on the in-cab screen and see if it is safe to manoeuvre. Sentinel’s systems are far more advanced than any we have used before so we would definitely use them again in the future.”

Sentinel Systems installations are bespoke to each customer so the cameras installed for Prentice Coaches were fitted to work alongside a DVR (digital video recorder) and suit a large coach. Having the cameras on the coaches will reduce the risk of incidents when a vehicle is going through an area with a lot of pedestrians.

Sentinel’s 360-degree surround view cameras can be combined with Sentinel’s four or eight channel DVRs, so drivers can record up to 30 days of footage. Inside the vehicle, a seven inch in-cab monitor is installed so anything around the bus can be seen clearly. The cameras not only reduce the risk of damage to the vehicle, but can also serve as evidence in any accident claims.

Sentinel Systems strive to lower the number of incidents associated with large vehicles manoeuvring in populated areas. With more than 30 years of experience in safety systems, Sentinel also supplies auto-braking, radar reversing aids and mobile recording devices.
