German e-mobility specialist Quantron has again confirmed that it plans to offer its 12m zero-emission single-decker bus – now christened Cizaris – in right-hand drive format as it prepares for a virtual launch of the product on 16 February.
Quantron says that the Cizaris will first be offered in battery-electric format. A hydrogen fuel cell-electric variant, with technology from specialist in that field Ballard Power Systems, will follow and “is already under development.”
It has reaffirmed an earlier claim that the battery-electric Cizaris will come in below the current price point for comparable buses and be available with a variety of unspecified equipment options to suit customers’ requirements.
In that format, the bus will use lithium phosphate LiFePO4 chemistry from battery manufacturer CATL. Up to 422kW/h of onboard energy storage is available that will deliver a maximum range of 360km according to E-SORT2, which represents an upward revision from the OEM’s earlier figure.
Charging power is up to 80kW and Quantron claims that the Cizaris can be replenished in between three and five hours. It previously confirmed that the bus will carry up to 95 passengers
The Augsburg-based manufacturer was created as a spin-off of Haller GmbH and, it says, “combines 138 years of commercial vehicle experience with state-of-the-art e-mobility knowhow.”
The launch event will be held at 1000hrs CET (0900 GMT) on 16 February via a dedicated website.
