RHA has published a guide to help operators take a proactive approach to driver health and wellbeing.
Guide to Maintaining Driver Health – Keeping Drivers Fit for the Road will be officially launched by RHA at a parliamentary reception at Westminster on 10 February.
The guidance covers mental and physical health, diet, neurodiversity and lifestyle, and offers practical steps to help operators improve the work environment.
Going beyond compliance when it comes to driver welfare can reduce absenteeism and boost staff retention, RHA believes.
In the guide, the trade body for the coach and haulage industry deals with the key welfare issues including medical conditions, fatigue, mental health, neurodiversity, alcohol, drugs and medication.
Richard Smith, Managing Director of the RHA, says: “Professional drivers sit at the heart of our industry.
“Their health and wellbeing are fundamental to road safety, business resilience and the long-term sustainability of the sector.
“This guide is about moving beyond minimum requirements and taking a practical, proactive approach that works for operators and genuinely supports drivers.”
