Local Transport Minister Simon Lightwood will headline the speakers at the Zemo Partnership Summit on Thursday (3 October).

The new Parliamentary Under-Secretary in the Department for Transport is joined on the speaker list at the event at Birdcage Walk, Westminster, by the ministers responsible for transport in Scotland and Wales respectively.

Fiona Hyslop MSP, the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport, and Ken Skates, the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Transport and North Wales, will also be present.

The event will be split into four sessions: Our Journey to a Delivery Roadmap for Net Zero Transport; Seizing the industrial opportunity: Why, when, how?; Net zero Transport: Delivery now; and Delivering Net Zero Transport in Scotland, Wales and England.

Following an introduction by Zemo Partnership chair Philip Sellwood, Mr Lightwood will deliver the first keynote speech as attendees hope to learn more about the new government’s plans for road transport decarbonisation.

As well as keynote addresses from Ms Hyslop and Mr Skates, speakers include Lord Deben, Chair of the Council for Net Zero Transport, who will deliver on the section entitled “Net Zero Transport by 2050”.

Claire Haigh, Zemo Partnership Executive Director will speak on the subject of “Accelerating the Delivery of Net Zero Transport”.

Rebecca Kite, Deputy Regional Manager, Confederation of Passenger Transport, will take part in one of the panel sessions. Another will include Martin Tugwell, CEO, Transport for the North; and Anne Shaw, Executive Director, Transport for West Midlands.

Tickets are free to members of the Zemo Partnership and available here.
