Volvo Bus has appointed Simon Woolacott as Regional Account Manager for the South. He takes on sales leadership for the region from Richard Mann, who will focus on his role as National Account Manager.
Mr Woolacott has extensive experience of the coach and bus industry, having worked in the sector on and off since he started his career at 19 as an apprentice fitter. He has driven coaches throughout Europe and most recently held the post of Area Sales Manager for Moseley (PCV).
Volvo Bus says that breadth of knowledge makes him “a great fit” for the regional role. Adds Sales Manager Dave Porter: “We are delighted to have Simon on board. He has a great range of industry experience, which is proving invaluable. He has already settled in superbly with the rest of the team and I am confident that he will make a positive impact in the south and establish some strong relationships, which will drive our growth.”
Mr Woolacott adds that the opportunity with Volvo will allow him to reconnect with some of his previous customers. “I am very much a people person, so to finally be able to meet face to face is a real bonus. I know operators have found it hard communicating virtually, so it is great to now have that opportunity to consolidate those relationships in person.
“Volvo Bus has a strong team of Regional Account Managers. They have all been extremely supportive, which has made my transition into the business a lot easier. From what I have experienced so far, it can only be onwards and upwards. A lot of responsibility comes with managing the south. However, I am really looking forward to getting stuck in.”
The naming of Simon Woolacott represents a second Regional Account Manager appointment for Volvo Bus in recent months. In May, Jennifer McGill took up the same role for the North of England and Scotland.
