Stagecoach is celebrating the achievements of its female leaders after three were added to the Women in Hospitality, Transport and Leisure’s (WiHTL’s) Women to Watch index and a fourth was named in a list of the top 50 most inspirational women in Gloucestershire.
The women recognised for their achievements include UK Managing Director Carla Stockton-Jones (pictured, above), Managing Director for Stagecoach West Scotland Fiona Doherty, and Health, Safety and Environment Director for Stagecoach Sharon Vye-Parminter.
Carla, who is included in WiTHL’s 2021 Role Model for Inclusion Index, is recognised as an individual who is striving to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging within her organisation.
Fiona, named on WiHTL’s Women to Watch index for 2021 during the same month, was named for leading her team through the COVID-19 pandemic, and for active participation in the Glasgow Bus Partnership. She has also been electric Chair of Glas-Go, which is looking to deliver an integrated bus network in the city.
Sharon, also named on WiHTL’s Women to Watch index for 2021 during the same month, is recognised for her support of the business through COVID-19 and for launching the Stagecoach Sustainability Strategy. She has recently taken up the role of Co-Chair of the Women@Stagecoach network, which supports women and women’s issues across Stagecoach.
Finally, as part of SoGlos, an online magazine serving Gloucestershire, Managing Director for Stagecoach West Rachel Geliamassi (pictured, left) was named in its top 50 most inspirational women in Gloucestershire.
“I am extremely proud that four of our female leaders have been added to these indexes in the last month,” says Chief Executive of Stagecoach Martin Griffiths. “This celebrates and recognises the commitment each of these women have made to ensuring Stagecoach is successful, equal and an employer of choice.
“We actively promote diversity and inclusion through a variety of ways, from strategic objectives such as targeting 40% female leaders and 25% of employees from ethnic background by 2026 and through our employee-led networks.
“Diversity and Inclusion continues to be extremely important to our business and while we have made some good progress, we know that there is still work to do. The new targets we have set as part of our sustainability strategy will help to make sure that we continue on this positive journey and play our part in helping to transform diversity in the transport sector so that we continue to have a strong pipeline of Women to Watch.”
