Stagecoach South has appointed Sudib Gurung as Assistant Operations Manager at its Aldershot depot after progressing from a driver role by means of the operator’s Stagecoach Shine development programme.
Sudib, who is Nepalese, is also taking part in WiHTL programme Ethnic Future Leaders Programme.
He began with the company at the Hampshire town as a leading driver and was then duty controller and allocation controller roles before his recent promotion.
Stagecoach Shine Pool is one of a number of the company’s schemes designed to coach and mentor emerging talent to aid development.
The Ethnic Future Leaders Programme aims to improve ethnic diversity in leadership by supporting the progression of high-potential employees towards leadership roles.
Sudib will assist the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the depot, which operates 42 routes om the Blackwater Valley by means of 150 drivers.
Sudib says: “I am very excited with the new role and truly looking forward to making a difference and contributing to the continued success of our Team Aldershot and Stagecoach South as a whole.
Melanie McDougall, Interim Operations Director for Stagecoach South, adds: “I was thrilled to congratulate Sudib on his promotion to Assistant Operations Manager.
“Stagecoach are committed to enabling its staff to develop. We’re so pleased Sudib has been able to grow within the business and further his career within our management team. He’s worked really hard to get to this point.”
