Stagecoach South recognised the commitment of 31 employees who have cumulatively amassed 730 years’ service at its long-service awards.
Held at the Leonardo Hotel in Southampton last Saturday, the event celebrated the dedication of employees who had achieved milestones ranging from 20 to 35 years of service.
Those recognised included bus drivers, cleaners, operations managers, a coach builder, an electrician, and a storeperson.
Among those was Nick Knight, Stagecoach South’s longest-serving driver, who began working for eventual Stagecoach-acquisition Hampshire Bus 52 years ago.
National “Star of the Month” winners from the South and top-performing drivers were also honoured at the event, which was co-hosted by Stagecoach South Managing Director Marc Reddy.
Mr Reddy says: “I have only been with the company for just over a year and I am bowled over by the family-friendly atmosphere that I feel when I am in our depots. It’s true to say Stagecoach, and particularly Stagecoach South, is very much one big family.
“It’s not only the buses, buildings and duties that encourage our colleagues to keep coming into Stagecoach every day, it’s the individuals they work with day in and day out.
That camaraderie really sets the bus industry apart from anywhere else, and the people at Stagecoach South give such great dedication and service that it’s important to celebrate them all at our annual awards event.”
