Cherry Trees, a charity based in Guildford that provides short breaks for children and young adults up to 19 years of age with complex disabilities, has been presented with a new Ford Transit minibus by the Lord’s Taverners.
It was handed over by Radio X presenter Toby Tarrant, a Lord’s Taverners member and the son of former President Chris Tarrant.
The new 16-seater will make a big difference to Cherry Trees. It will allow children and young adults to be taken to and from school and on more excursions. It has been adapted for large wheelchairs, and it will also benefit users that struggle with space and sensory sensitivity.
“Everyone that works at Cherry Trees is a volunteer, and they are incredible,” says Toby. “They want the young people here to have access to activities the every other child can undertake, and the minibus is going to be a huge contribution towards doing that.”
Cherry Trees routinely cares for more than 100 children and young adults. In 2016 it provided over 64,000 hours of care.
