London bus operator Tower Transit has highlighted expected fuel savings and environmental considerations as key factors behind ordering 28 new Wrightbus StreetDeck HEV vehicles, which will be deployed throughout summer 2019.

These are the first StreetDeck HEVs to be bought by Tower Transit. Each one is twin-door, 10.6m in length and built to full TfL specification, and have a Daimler OM934 Euro 6 engine with Voith D854.6 gearbox including integrated retarder. Electronic power-assisted steering and stop/start engine technology are also among included features.

“We have purchased these vehicles based on the expected levels of fuel efficiency and overall environmental performance,” says Satnam Cheema, Tower Transit’s Group Engineering Director.
