Transdev subsidiary The Harrogate Bus Company has launched a free shuttle service for people travelling to vaccination appointments at the town’s Yorkshire Event Centre. It will be operated by one of the operator’s Volvo 7900E battery-electric buses. The service will run every 30min on days that vaccinations are being carried out.
CEO Alex Hornby says: “We wanted to do everything possible to support the amazing NHS staff and volunteers who are running Harrogate’s vaccination centre by making travel to and from the venue easy and safe for everyone.
“All of our buses are clean, safe and ready to go and provide a comfortable way to travel to and from a vaccination appointment. Easy connections can be made with our Harrogate network at the bus station, bringing the vaccination centre into easy reach of every stop on our regular bus routes.”
Harrogate MP Andrew Jones has welcomed the introduction of the free service. “This is an excellent initiative by The Harrogate Bus Company. It will make travel to and from the NHS vaccination centre easier for everyone while freeing up staff and volunteers to give the best possible care to all who attend.”
