North of England bus operator Transdev has launched a new bus sponsorship offer to promote local business from city to coast.
It follows a successful trial with retailer John Lewis, in which high profile messaging was displayed on two of the operator’s flagship buses on routes into Leeds and on the Coastliner route linking the Yorkshire coast with York and Leeds. Transdev reveals the trial was effective in attracting more customers to travel to John Lewis’ newest store in the Victoria Gate shopping centre by bus.
Sponsoring a bus through Transdev’s initiative will provide businesses with opportunities to promote their brand to a broader audience than a traditional billboard. The initiative is available on Transdev’s busiest routes across Yorkshire and the North West.
Moreover, companies that sponsor a bus will have the chance to become part of Transdev’s expanding “Transdev Treats” network of visitor, shopping, and leisure attractions, which offer customers discounts when they arrive by bus.
Matt Burley, Transdev’s Commercial Manager, says that the initiative’s objective was more than just advertising. “Attracting customers to reach a business by bus makes sense,” he says. “It takes away the hassle of congestion and car parking, and at the same time, helps firms across our region to meet and beat carbon reduction targets by encouraging their customers to choose the most environment-friendly way to travel to their front door.
“John Lewis instantly saw the unique advantage in linking their brand with ours, and now their name can be seen across miles of town and country, inviting potential customers to hop on a bus and be chauffeur driven to the door of their store. We believe bus sponsorship is a formula for business success for firms throughout our region.”
