Travel Wright has confirmed that the date of its closure will be Sunday 3 April. The Newark operator’s announcement follows news earlier in February that it was likely to engage in a planned closure after no buyer could be found to take the fully solvent business forward.
In accordance with an earlier statement, Travel Wright has confirmed that all of its services – including bus routes, contracts, tours and private hire – will be operated as normal until the date of closure. It will also run a final excursion on 6 April, to the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London, as planned.
In confirming the closure of the business, its Directors have thanked well-wishers who have made contact. “It is humbling to know that Travel Wright has been so appreciated and well liked over the years,” they say.
“We will certainly be taking with us some very happy memories. It has been a pleasure serving the people of Newark and its surrounding areas.”
In revealing that closure was the likely option for the business, the Directors had stressed that the sole reason for an exit was their collective wish to retire and no buyer coming forward to take on the company.
