Treka Bus is looking to 2019 with optimism as it approaches the first anniversary of its purchase by Woodall Nicholson, parent company of Mellor Coachcraft.
MD Morgan Clissett expects the Brighouse company to finish 2018 on around 330 deliveries. November is set to be Treka’s busiest month on record, with 50 new minibuses on track to be dispatched.
The Treka Van conversion has proved popular and in 2019 Mr Clissett expects to see parity in volumes between it and the coachbuilt Treka 16.
“We have invested time and effort to build our share of the van conversion market. That we are doing so indicates two things: That we have attracted new customers, and that our van-based product is better than ever,” he says.
Interest has been boosted by Treka’s debut of a high-capacity conversion that can seat up to 22 passengers. “That high-capacity has opened up avenues, both with existing customers and in terms of conquest business,” adds Mr Clissett.
Thoughts have already turned to growing production further in 2019 and how Treka manages that. Recruitment of production staff is underway and it has taken orders for 30 minibuses based on the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – but stock availability of the existing model remains good.
