Victoria Coach Station will be kept open, Transport for London (TfL) recently announced, with plans for a renovation.
The proposal to move the station away from its Grade II listed Belgravia home was dropped after an eight-month review process.
National Express, one of the UK’s largest coach operators, has welcomed the news.
The site, which covers over three acres and has operated as a key transport hub for the Capital for 87 years, will receive investment and upgrades to its layout and facilities.
Managing Director of National Express UK Coach Chris Hardy says: “London is a key location on our network with nearly nine million National Express passenger journeys made through Victoria Coach Station in 2018.
“We are pleased TfL has recognised the importance of coach transport in the capital and we look forward to working together to enhance the customer experience and benefit our passengers.”
London Victoria Coach Station currently sees 14 million passengers a year and serves 400 foreign cities and 1,200 destinations across the UK.
