Volvo Buses will extend its B8R-based MCV Evotor product to include a 57-seat variant that complements the existing 53-seat plus toilet layout on the 12.6m entry-level coach.
Addition of the 57-seater is based on customer feedback, says Volvo Bus UK and Ireland Managing Director Domenico Bondi. “Following a series of meetings with our partners at MCV, we are really excited to be expanding the range,” he continues. The 57-seater can be ordered immediately with deliveries to start in May 2025.
Mr Bondi adds that the B8R MCV Evotor “was designed as a reliable and cost-effective workhorse” that has quickly found favour with buyers and that the dealership is “set to bridge further gaps in the domestic coach market while introducing a competitively priced vehicle offering a superior level of comfort and safety.”
Transition of the Evotor to the B8R chassis from the now-discontinued B11R was announced by Volvo in late 2023. Introduction of a 57-seater to complement the existing 53-seat configuration – which can be increased to 55 if the toilet is removed – was suggested by buyers “soon after launch,” Mr Bondi continues.
The 7.7-litre D8K engine used in the B8R develops 350bhp and 1,585Nm of torque and drives through a Volvo I-Shift automated manual gearbox. The Evotor interior specification includes a Bosch audio-visual system and USB charging points.
Volvo Bus UK and Ireland says that buyers of the model will be supported via its dealership network and MCV, with the supply of over 95% of genuine Volvo parts being overnight regardless of whether they are held in the UK, Ireland, or further afield.
