A total of 50 MCV-bodied Volvo B11Rs now make up 2019’s order

Volvo Bus has placed a follow-on order for the still as-yet unnamed MCV-bodied B11R coach that has the working title of Project 523.

It ordered an initial 25 for 2019, of which 20 are now sold, says Retail Sales Director James Hyde. As a result, a further 25 have been confirmed for next year. That, says Mr Hyde, will allow Volvo to hold stock that can be supplied at short notice.

While Project 523 was conceived as a standard-specification, cost-effective model, there is some flexibility in built-to-order coaches.

Performance of the super-high 9900 tri-axle has also exceeded expectations. “People are in awe of it,” he says. The first right-hand drive production examples will arrive in Q1 2019.
