Under-Secretary of State for Transport Baroness Vere will kick off a series of lunchtime webinar sessions to be held by the Young Bus Managers Network (YBMN) at 1230hrs on Thursdays in June. They are aimed at giving young managers from across the industry an insight into the views of four of its most senior members.
Lady Vere will join the inaugural session on 3 June. She will talk about the opportunities presented by the government’s National Bus Strategy for England. The 45-minute format will also allow participants to question Lady Vere before wrapping up at 1315hrs.
Subsequent YBMN Thursday webinars in June will see presentations by:
- On 10 June, Pete Bond, Director of Integrated Network Services as Transport for West Midlands. Mr Bond will give a view from a leading member of the Urban Transport Group network of city region transport authorities
- On 17 June, Julian Peddle, owner of Centrebus and established industry entrepreneur. Mr Peddle will present his angle on things from a non-aligned operator’s point of view
- On 24 June, David Brown, Chief Executive of the Go-Ahead Group. Mr Brown, who recently announced his forthcoming retirement, will tell young managers about the approach being taken by one of the ‘big five’ groups.
“All young bus managers are welcome,” says YBMN Co-Patron and former First West of England Managing Director James Freeman. “These sessions have been laid on to give unrivalled access to four authoritative leaders in the bus world.” Registration for the four webinars can be done by sending an email to zoom@youngbusmanagersnetwork.org.uk
