City Sightseeing Oxford is another member of the coach and bus industry to receive a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award, for its open-top tour in the university city.
Operated by Go-Ahead Group subsidiary Oxford Bus Company (OBC), City Sightseeing Oxford scooped the accolade based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews submitted prior to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Carfax Tower, which is operated by City Sightseeing Oxford on behalf of Oxford City Council (OCC), also won a Travellers’ Choice award.
Says OBC Managing Director Phil Southall: “We are proud to have won this globally significant award that independently recognises the excellent service that we provide to visitors to Oxford.
“Delivering a world-class welcome to all visitors is crucial to attracting people into the city. We maintained the City Sightseeing service throughout the summer despite the coronavirus COVID-19 challenges to help support Oxford’s visitor economy at this challenging time.
“As part of that commitment, we also opened our Visitor Information Point in the city to further enhance our offering to visitors. The open-top bus service is a fantastic way for visitors to explore our beautiful city. It helps to attract footfall into Oxford, which supports the wider local economy.”
City Sightseeing Oxford provides commentary in 14 languages. It also has a version for children that includes quizzes.
In March 2020, OBC launched the first of five repowered battery-electric double-deckers onto the City Sightseeing operation in Oxford.
Llandudno operator Alpine Travel is another coach and bus operator to be recognised with a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award. It was rewarded for its Marine Drive tour, which utilises a heritage Leyland Cub with Duple bodywork.
