Courtney Buses, a subsidiary of Reading Buses, has taken delivery of three sets of wireless mobile column lifts from Stertil Koni. They form part of upgrade work to the Bracknell-based operator’s workshops.
The lifts are model type ST1075FWA. Each has a capacity of 7,500kg, giving ample tolerance when four columns are used to raise one of Courtney’s 60 buses.
A maximum lifting height of 1.85m is reached in 75 seconds, which Stertil Koni says makes the ST1075FWA one of the fastest such units in the market.
Each column has the manufacturer’s eBright smart control system. It enables staff to operate the columns individually, in pairs or in any other combination from a single location.
eBright also provides ample visual information, including details of how many columns are in use, the battery status of each and a notification when the independent mechanical locking system is engaged.
The time between battery charges is “at least a week” on average. Replenishment can be done overnight using a 230v single-phase supply. Cable-free operation means that set-up times are short and safety is maximised.
“Our Stertil Koni lifts work around the clock, day after day, ” says Courtney Buses Head of Engineering Sunni Cheema. “They don’t get any rest, but are proving to be extremely reliable.
“Also, we have had experience of working with Stertil Koni lifts at other companies in the past, so we knew they offer excellent value for money. They also look very smart in our new clean and open workshop.”
