Tower Transit, has used an £8m funding package to complete a new elevated bus deck at its Westbourne Park Bus Garage, London.
It comes after it secured a £29m facility. HSBC provided £14.5m of the funding, with Santander responsible for the remaining £14.5m.
The open-air deck, with space for 150 buses, is part of the Crossrail development, which started construction at the site in 2008. The garage is famously built beneath the A40 Westway, which acts as its roof.
It has resulted in the expansion of the garage, making it one of the largest in central London.
Tower Transit operates 470 buses in London from Westbourne Park and Leyton.
Paul Cox, Chief Financial Officer of Tower Transit, said: “The new bus deck will allow us to effectively and efficiently service the routes we currently operate, and cement our position as a key operator in the heart of Central London..”
“The funding from HSBC and Santander working together has formed part of the capital contribution required to complete on the huge infrastructure project. The professional guidance and expertise from the banks allowed us to smoothly complete the project and commence operations quickly.”
