A £100m programme of works is on course to prevent deaths and serious injuries over the next two decades on 48 of the riskiest council-managed A roads in England.
The investment comes via the Safer Roads Fund created by the Department for Transport.
The cash will be used for reengineering work, rumble strips and improving visibility at junctions.
