National Express West Midlands has granted the last wishes of a former bus conductor by providing a special bus to take family members to his funeral.
102-year-old Lester Streete from Walsall, passed away in May. His family were keen to carry out his wishes for a bus to be part of his funeral.
Lester worked on the buses for two decades before retiring in 1977.
His daughter Eseata Streete says: “He really loved his job. He would always talk about those days – meeting so many people on the bus.
“As a family, we decided we will celebrate his life and travelling by bus was the perfect way to do that.”
The team at National Express’ Wolverhampton bus garage sent a brand-new top of the range Platinum double-decker. The destination on the front of the bus read: Mr Lester Streete, One Last Journey
