Lloyd Sheriff from Sunderland was honoured at the 67th annual Long Service Awards on Friday (19 May), after celebrating 50 years’ service with the region’s largest bus operator, Go North East.
The 70-year-old started his early career as a conductor, and was instantly attracted to a seat behind the wheel – becoming a driver aged 21.
Lloyd says: “It’s the people, they’re what make it – good work colleagues and the passengers. Some faces I recognise from when I first started, it’s wonderful.”
