The Greater Manchester Bus Operators Association (GMBOA) has appointed Gary Nolan, 60, as its Chief Executive – a new position – who will “play a crucial role in our discussions with Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham,” says the GMBOA.

Mr Nolan was Stagecoach UK Bus Regional Director Midlands and Wales, until he left the company a few months ago.

GMBOA Chairman Phil Smith says: “He joins GMBOA at a very crucial time for the future of bus services and those who use them and earn their living to deliver them.

“He will play an important part in the bus operators’ talks with the Mayor, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority as well as with other key stakeholders over the coming months and years that will shape the future of bus services which still carry more passengers than any other mode of public transport in the conurbation.”

The appointment is part time; at eight days a month.
